Short Notes on the July 1, 2012 Broadcast of Meet The Press

July 1, 2012

As expected, I missed Meet The Press morning… mainly because I fell into a post-Vidcon sleep just hours before David Gregory began this morning’s broadcast. (Read more about Vidcon 2012 via the Rolling Stone here.)

According to news reports, House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said on Meet The Press that Republican efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act were “unrealistic.”

Gregory summarized the rest of the show this way: “Governor Bobby Jindal – a possible Vice Presidential pick for Mitt Romney – argued the best way to challenge the president’s health reform law is to ‘elect Mitt Romney to repeal [it].’ However, former Governor Howard Dean (D-VT) contended Jindal’s argument did not make sense. ‘Mitt Romney is the one that showed [the individual mandate] could be done for the whole country,’ he said. ‘I don’t get this at all.'”

Meanwhile more than 2 million people in the DC area remain without power. I am sure it took more than a little heroics to create today’s broadcast. Chuck Todd tweeted at 5:39 AM, “In buro, soaking in a little A.C.; wish I could bottle it and bring home. See you on @meetthepress; a program I couldn’t watch at home today.”
